Winter frost is cruel, but it is not a reason to cancel walks with your favourite pet, especially when there are so many splendid fur coats, jackets and down-jackets which are so fashionable, fancy, beautiful and so warm!

Normally, your fluffy pet should be protected against cold with its own hair, but there are some serious differences between hair and subcutaneous fat of different dog breeds. While our big friends can bear cold temperatures easily, our little brothers, such as chihuahua, toy terries, dachshunds and others are not so lucky. They quiver under the wind and snow and get cold easily. So, winter clothing is not a caprice, it is a necessary element of wardrobe.

The most common are fur coats made of artificial fur as in the last DogModa collection. They are not expensive and protect your favourite against cold. Herewith the fur is similar to that of natural dog hair that is why it does not impede ventilation. Pieces made of natural fur will be much more expensive and are mainly customized. It is not only a piece of clothing for walk but rather a posh outfit for going out.

Lining of winter clothes must be warm and soft. Coarse fabrics and seams can result in irritation and injures of the skin and the rich, well-groomed hair of your pet will look miserable.

More austere down-jackets are also cold-proof but they are easier to wear and fit all purposes. They can be washed, they are not sensitive to dirt and chemicals and thanks to hard-wearing fabrics they are difficult to tear, which is very useful during exercises. Moreover, winter weather is quite changeable, and if one day it is snowing, it will probably raining next day. In this case a down-jacket is the best protection against dirt, particularly if your friend has got a rich chevelure.
